Regal is a private English language club based on the acquisition of knowledge in art, music and the social graces: open six days a week from Monday to Saturday. We provide a club-like atmosphere where you can sit with an English language host or hostess and practice your English for as long as you wish. Regal believes in international culture and lauds the freedom that sophistication, good manners and social etiquette bring. Be it the early Ming Dynasty or the nascent Roman Empire, ritual and social etiquette have been a part of sophisticated society since time immemorial.

We are not, however, blindly focused on 19th century manners. The cosmopolitan person, simply put, has options. Whether to use them is a manner of personal choice.

At Regal you are exposed to an English language environment from morning till night. We are not a school but a fun-filled club. The club is led by Leon, a long-term and well-known Taichung teacher from Canada.

English is said to be easy but dynamic. This is clearly demonstrated in the expression“Shut up!” Thirty years ago this was considered a profoundly rude statement – creating a vituperative and enraged response. Thirty years later, however, this expression can mean, “You’re kidding, that can’t be true.” It can also be used as a sign of closeness, warmth, an endearment. All aspects of the English language can be experienced through this communicative approach at Regal. We simply ask that you make a serious attempt to speak English from the time you enter the club until you leave the club premises.
